【プロフィール】

山梨県都留市にて昭和９年に創業の、佐藤木工の三代目。

銘木欅を中心とした山梨県産の無垢材だけを使用し、手作業で伝統の家具造りを守りながら、現代のライフスタイルに合うアーティスティックなインテリアを提案している。

存在感のある家具、永く使い継がれる家具を目指し、日々研鑽を重ねている。

近年、工房が二度の火災に遭い、それまでの製品・写真・道具類・資料集などすべて焼失し、０からのスタートとなってしまう。そこでこれまでに培われてきた伝統的な木工技術を使い、今まで以上に良質な製品を世の中へ伝えていくことを決心。希少素材である欅の玉目、ボタン目の木材や黒柿の木材を使った独自の秀逸家具の作品を作り続けて行きたいと再建を果たし、都留市の工場内の特別展示室には常時50点を超える作品が展示されている。

最近では国内ばかりではなくヨーロッパや中近東からの問い合わせも増えている。

The third-generation head of SATO Woodworking, a company founded in 1934 in Tsuru City, Yamanashi Prefecture.
Working exclusively with solid wood sourced from Yamanashi—particularly prized Japanese zelkova (keyaki)—he preserves traditional handcraft furniture-making techniques while proposing artistic interior pieces suited to modern lifestyles.

Aiming to create furniture with a strong presence and lasting value, Sato continues to refine his work each day.

In recent years, the workshop suffered two devastating fires, which destroyed all of its previous works, photographs, tools, and archival materials, forcing a complete restart from zero. In response, he resolved to bring even higher-quality products to the world.

Rebuilding the workshop, he continues to produce distinctive furniture pieces using rare materials such as TAMA-ME and BOTAN-ME figured zelkova, as well as the highly prized black persimmon (kurogaki).
Currently, a special exhibition room within the workshop in Tsuru City permanently displays more than fifty of his works.
Recently, inquiries have increased not only from within Japan but also from Europe and the Middle East.
